Piergiacomo Grassi

Consultant Ophthalmologist 

Mr Piergiacomo Grassi MD is a consultant ophthalmologist specialising in vitreoretinal surgery, complex cataract surgery, refractive lens exchange and glaucoma surgery. He gained his medical degree in Naples, Italy, achieving honours and publishing his graduation thesis as a Major Review. He won two major scholarships to further his ophthalmic surgical training and completed fellowships at the world-renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital and St Thomas Hospital in London, where he developed an interest in refractive lens exchange. He was subsequently appointed as Consultant Vitreoretinal Surgeon at Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust, Greater Manchester, UK.  

Piergiacomo routinely trains and supervises senior fellows and junior surgeons from around the world in vitreoretinal and cataract surgery. He is a keen researcher and in addition to 34 peer-reviewed publications in ophthalmic journals, he has presented at various national and international ophthalmology meetings in the UK, USA and Italy.
