Surgery – How long does cataract surgery take?

Cataract surgery is a quick and straightforward procedure, usually taking around 15 minutes to complete. Most patients spend two to three hours at the hospital on the day of surgery and can go home the same day. Your eye will be numbed with anaesthetic drops, and for some patients a protective eye shield is worn overnight. Temporary side effects such as blurred or double vision, watery or gritty eyes, and redness are normal for the first few days. Full healing and vision stabilization typically take four to six weeks, after which you can resume all normal activities.
