INR - can I still have cataract surgery if my INR is out of range?

Please inform the staff at your pre-assessment appointment if you’re taking blood-thinning medication/anti-coagulants. You should continue taking your medication in the lead-up to your appointment. Once you know your surgery date, you’ll need to inform your anti-coagulation clinic and book an appointment with them to obtain an INR result within a week of your surgery. If your INR is out of range, you should contact us so that we can discuss your readings with your surgeon and make a decision about whether we can proceed with your cataract surgery, or whether we’ll need to re-book it for a later date.
