This interactive session will provide a review of common and not so common eyelid conditions that may be encountered in optometric practice – the aetiology behind them plus their management. It is intended as revision for optometrists, dispensing opticians and contact lens opticians.

Clinical practice

To be able to recognise common eyelid conditions and appreciate which ones require conservative management and which ones are more serious.
To understand the management of eyelid abnormalities.

Communication

To appreciate the best way to explain MGD to patients and how to encourage compliance for maintenance treatment/self-care.

Specialty CPD – contact lens optician

To appreciate that recurrent chalazia in the same place can be indicative of something more serious, particularly in adults and in contact lens wearers.
