Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal works by focusing a laser beam at the base of unwanted hair follicles, therefore causing them to stop producing hair.

It’s a safe and proven long-term solution to helping you rid yourself of unwanted hair. The treatment can be performed on almost any area of the body, leaving you with that freshly removed, smooth feeling on your skin.

A course of 4 - 6 treatments is essential - the bodies hair follicles are in different phases of growth all the time, therefore, to successfully treat them all, several courses are required.

Please note: We can treat all hair types and colours, including blonde, grey and white hair.

Why choose SpaMedica?

Here, at SpaMedica, we use Laser hair removal technology. IPL (intense pulse light) is used in our hospital for the treatment of various conditions to which it is it well suited, but not for hair removal.

Why you ask? Well, the reason is simple, laser hair removal is far more effective for permanent hair reduction.

Our state-of-the-art medical treatment is delivered in comfort and without the need for anesthesia.

The treatment is fast, effective and can be used on most parts of the body (i.e. on all skin types) - however, we may need to perform a patch test prior to the treatment.

Laser hair FAQ

How does laser hair removal work?

The laser is attracted to the dark pigment in hair called melanin. The energy from the laser travels down to the base of the hair follicle using melanin as a ‘conductor’ where it disperses as thermal energy. This damages the base of the hair follicle rendering it unable to produce hair as quickly. The rate of hair growth will decrease more and more as you have further treatments.

How will I feel during the treatment?

Laser hair removal is virtually painless. No discomfort has ever been reported by any of our patients. In order to relieve any discomfort felt , we use a device which blows cold air onto the skin during the procedure.

What happens after my treatment?

You may have some redness in the skin - however, this is a completely normal reaction and generally settles within 24 hours of the procedure.

Protecting your skin from the sun is essential to avoid any darkening caused by increased pigment in the skin called hyperpigmentation.

You must have treatment on a regular basis to get the maximum benefit. Facial hair is treated every 4 weeks and body hair, every 6 weeks. We recommend a minimum of six treatments.
