Andre is an experienced ophthalmic surgeon, having performed over 40,000 refractive procedures. He is registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and a fully trained ophthalmologist with additional specialist training in refractive surgery.
Andre began his medical career at the University of Pretoria in 1979, graduating in Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) in 1984. He spent two years at the Military Hospital of Pretoria in the Ophthalmology Department before progressing to work as a general practitioner for six years.
In 1992, he pursued his interest in ophthalmology, accepting a registrar position at the University of Stellenbosch, obtaining a master’s degree in Ophthalmology (MMed Ophth) in 1997.
Andre has vast ophthalmic experience, taking a special interest in cataract and refractive surgery. He is an active member of various bodies and societies, including the Ophthalmology Society in South Africa. He regularly attends the International Medical Advisory Board (IMAB) Conference.
