Clear Lens Extraction

Clear Lens Extraction (CLE) -also called refractive lens exchange (RLE)- is a procedure which involves removing the eye’s natural lens and inserting an artificial lens in its place. The process resembles that of cataract surgery and is used to treat hyperopia and myopia where other refractive procedures are not easily managed, such as laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) or photorefractive keratoplasty (PRK).
