Droopy / Baggy Eyelids
Eyelid surgery is a popular cosmetic / plastic surgery procedure to remove excess skin, fat or muscle from droopy upper and lower eyelids. There is a difference between a droopy eyelid and a baggy eyelid. A droopy eyelid is low. A baggy eyelid has excess skin and fat. The two often occur at the same time in adults.
As we age, excess skin forms in the eye area, and the skin loses elasticity. Fatty tissue can then accumulate under the skin, leaving your eyes appearing tired, wrinkled and / or puffy. Even with good skincare and eye care, wrinkles, puffiness and drooping eyelids will eventually catch up to you as part of the natural process of ageing. Genetic factors and body chemistry can also cause these ageing effects in younger people. Plastic surgery may restore a youthful and refreshed appearance to your eyes.
It is one of the most common eyelid problems. The lid may droop slightly, or cover the entire pupil, which can restrict and even sometimes, block 'normal' vision.
It can be present in children and adults, and is usually treated with surgery.
